In 1987, Kunal started his own company, Adfilm-Valas, and started producing and directing commercials for television. One of his memorable compositions, starring his brother Karan, was Bombay Dyeing’s “Dream Lover” series. Since then, he has directed more than 800 television commercials and is considered one of the best directors of advertising films in India. They are especially known for large-scale format, action, glamor, and humor. Recently, most successful car-ads made in India have been produced and directed by Kunal.

Kunal Kapoor is the trustee of Shree Prithviraj Kapoor Memorial Trust and Research Foundation, with his father Shashi Kapoor, who owns the Prithvi Theater located in Juhu, Mumbai (founded and constructed by Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer Kapoor) and his Handles the work.
